Code of Ethics
Global Age. Journal of Political Studies and International Thought adheres to the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal’s ethical standards are consistent with those of EDUCatt, the publishing partner, which oversees compliance with international norms of academic integrity, transparency, and responsible editorial conduct. This Code of Ethics defines the duties and responsibilities of Authors, Reviewers, and the Editorial Board throughout the publication process.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are required to submit manuscripts that are original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere, unless explicitly permitted. In cases of republication, the original venue of publication must be clearly acknowledged. Authors must comply with the journal’s editorial guidelines and ensure that all sources are appropriately cited. Ideas, data, or verbatim material derived from other works must be properly paraphrased or quoted and accurately attributed.
During the review process, authors may be asked to revise or expand their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ comments. Anonymous evaluations may be shared with authors, who are entitled to respond with clarifications or reasoned objections. The Editorial Staff reserves the right to introduce minor editorial or formal changes following proof correction, without altering the substance of the work.
Authorship must be clearly defined. All individuals who have made a significant scholarly contribution to the work should be listed as co-authors, while other forms of contribution should be appropriately acknowledged. In the case of co-authored submissions, authors are expected to specify the respective contributions of each author.
Authors must hold, or obtain prior to publication, the necessary rights to reproduce images, data, or other third-party materials included in their submission. They are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and to indicate all relevant sources of funding. Should significant errors or inaccuracies be identified after publication, authors are expected to promptly inform the Editorial Staff and cooperate in the correction or retraction process where necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
Peer review supports editorial decision-making and contributes to improving the quality of submissions through constructive and well-founded feedback. Reviewers are selected on the basis of their academic expertise and, where relevant, their linguistic competence.
Reviewers who are unable to complete a review within the agreed timeframe, or who consider themselves insufficiently qualified to evaluate a manuscript, are expected to inform the Editorial Staff promptly. Reviews must be conducted objectively and supported by clear and reasoned arguments. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate, and evaluations must not be influenced by ideological, personal, or institutional bias.
Reviewers are encouraged to identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the author and to draw attention to substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript under review and other known publications. All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Information obtained through the peer review process must not be used for personal advantage or disclosed to third parties. Reviewers must decline to evaluate manuscripts in cases of conflict of interest arising from prior collaboration, competition, or institutional affiliation with the author(s).
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editorial Board and the International Scientific Committee
The responsibility for publication decisions rests with the Editorial Board, in coordination with the International Scientific Committee. Where appropriate, the opinion of the Scientific Committee may also be sought. All editorial decisions are based on the outcomes of a double-blind peer review process conducted by external reviewers.
The Editorial Board acts in accordance with the journal’s editorial policy and complies with all applicable legal requirements, including those concerning defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts are taken exclusively on the basis of scholarly merit, relevance, originality, and coherence, without discrimination on any grounds.
The Editorial Board ensures the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and does not disclose information about a submission beyond the authors, the editorial staff, the reviewers, and the publisher. Unpublished materials or data contained in submitted manuscripts are not used for any purpose without the explicit written consent of the author(s).
